This was the accolade that Just Oil received at the RASE (Royal Agricultural Society of England) Food & Drink Champion Awards this year. Judged by Sheila Dillon of the BBC Food Programme, John Ferrand from the Guild of Fine Food and Robert Paul of sponsors Suffolk Food Hall, the competition was fierce and included a wide range of food brands including the supreme champion, St James Ewes' Cheese. Anthony Froggatt of Just Oil said, "We were delighted to be listed amongst the food champions alongside such well respected brands as Aspalls, Cotswold Brewing Company and Churchfields Ice Cream. The St James cheese was delicious and a very worthy supreme champion."
The Judges gave very positive feedback on Just Oil's Oak Smoked Rapeseed Oil at the Diamond Awards this year. "Clear and bright", "Nuttiness still comes through the smoke" and "Creme brulee, lingering smoke" were some of the comments made. The branding was also praised as being "simple, clear and good with excellent artwork". "This is very encouraging", said Anthony Froggatt. "We are expanding the range rapidly and such positive feedback to our new brand has added to the response we are getting from consumers." The Just range now comprises of salad dressings, infused oils, oak smoked oil and the original Extra Virgin, Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil which is available in a range of volumes from 250ml to 2.5l cans.
The winners of the HEART of ENGLAND fine foods (HEFF) Diamond Awards were revealed on Saturday 17 May at the glittering black tie 'Dinner of the Decade' where ten leading chefs from across the region, led by Andreas Antona from Simpsons in Birmingham, prepared a ten course tasting menu for 300 guests from the food and drink industry.
The Diamond Awards were launched this year as a fitting tribute to coincide with the tenth anniversary celebrations of regional food and drink. Now an annual affair, the awards highlight the quality of produce available from the HEART of ENGLAND in the nine product categories with four additional Special Diamond Awards being presented to acknowledge businesses that best reflect HEFF's strap-line and aspirations for its members: GROW, INNOVATE, TASTE, EXCEL.
Hill Ridware-based Just Oil won the Taste category of HEFF’s Diamond Awards. The Taste winner is the overall winner from nine product categories, which generated 275 entries.
Just Oil is produced by the Froggatt family on their farm in the heart of Staffordshire. Anthony Froggatt and his family are the fourth generation to farm at Wade Lane Farm.
The farm’s Just rapeseed oil – which is suitable for frying, roasting, marinades and dressings – is triple filtered to give it a subtle but distinctive flavour and has half the fat level of olive oil.
Just Oil also supplies marinades, salad dressings and infused oils through both the HEFF Delivery Service and wholesalers, retailers, butchers, delicatessens and farm shops.
The farm is in the Countryside Stewardship Scheme and it has entered into a large and diverse selection of environmental schemes.
The Oilseed Rape Oil is grown, harvested, filtered, cold pressed, stored and bottled on farm, giving it 100 per cent traceability and keeping down food miles.
